This is the first of a 7-piece series of illustrations that I completed for The Woodland Faerie Trail of Achill Island in Ireland. They are printed on wooden plaques and scattered throughout fairy houses and lovely, mossy, ivy-ed trees.
This fairy is called the Sidhe, or The Good Folk. They are regal, gentle, beautiful human-sized fairies. Imagine Tolkien elves. They dwell in fairy rings and mounds and are skilled tradesmen.
The text is a famous poem, author unknown, adjusted to mention the Sidhe.
